Master of Science in Computational Modeling and Simulation

The CSBD is one of the partner institutes of the Master's program "Computational Modeling and Simulation" (CMS) at the TU Dresden. Besides CMS lectures taking place at the CSBD, CMS Master students have the opportunity to join a CSBD research group during the project-based teaching modules of CMS, or for their Master Thesis.

The program also offers the possibility to fast-track into the structured PhD program at the CSBD and the MPI-CBG, the IMPRS-CellDevoSys. Application into the central selection scheme of the PhD program is offered after the 3rd semester. The master thesis can then be written on the future dissertation topic and in the corresponding working group at the CSBD.

The CMS Master's program is a joint curriculum between the TU Dresden Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Mathematics, and the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) with participation of the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The research-oriented interdisciplinary curriculum offers application-independent training in the algorithmic and mathematical foundations of computational modeling and simulation, followed by specialization in five application-specific tracks, among them computational life science, offering unique flexibility to students. The program combines topics of modeling (data science, inference, machine learning, artificial intelligence) and simulation (numerical methods, computer simulation, scientific software engineering, high-performance computing), in order to provide knowledge of lasting value and educate the innovators of tomorrow.

Applications for the CMS Master program are possible via the TU Dresden application system.
