In addition to postdoc openings in individual research groups, the ELBE Postdoctoral Fellows Program offers fully funded fellowships in an international and cross-disciplinary research environment. Selection is based on scientific merit. We seek outstanding postdoctoral researchers with backgrounds in Computational Biology, Theoretical Physics, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Cell and Developmental Biology and a strong interest to work in the cross-disciplinary environment of the CSBD. ELBE Postdoctoral Fellows are independent and have the opportunity to collaborate with more than one research group to bridge between disciplines. The appointment is typically for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension to three years in total. Extensions beyond three years are not possible.
To apply, please fill the online application form and upload a single pdf file containing
- a cover letter,
- publication list,
- a summary of previous research (max. 1 page) and
- a concisely worded research statement of the proposed work during your stay at CSBD (1-2 pages), preferably oriented towards the mission and interests of the Center.
Please also arrange for two confidential letters of recommendation to be submitted online.
Applications are considered by a scientific committee, which meets twice a year. The next application deadline is in spring 2021 (tbd). Short-listed candidates should be prepared to join a selection symposium held either virtually or in Dresden, depending on the global Covid-19 situation. The interview consists of a public scientific talk and a confidential meeting with the selection committee. Successful candidates should take up their positions within four months of final acceptance.
The Max Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer. Disabled individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
The CSBD, the MPI-CBG and the MPI-PKS aim to increase the number of women in scientific positions, therefore female applicants are particularly welcome. Read about our efforts to balance family and career.
